TITLE: Director of Food Safety - QA/QC

Design and implement a complete food safety program for candy and snacks which will comply with US and International Food Safety Regulations and will be auditable by an accredited international third party audit organization. Design, create and implement a complete Quality Control and Quality Assurance program for two candy and snack factories in California. Train and manage personnel regarding food safety and quality in production of packaged consumer goods. Manage an ongoing food safety and QA/QC program designed for hard candy, chewy candy and chocolate. Work closely with R & D for the development of new candy products. Train and manage personnel regarding adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Create, implement and monitor the Hazard Analysis Critical Control (HACCP) program for two factories in California. Conduct all internal and external inspections and audits by private third party auditing organizations and public entities. Develop and manage Environmental Monitoring Program for both plants in California. Create and maintain regulatory documentation for finished products (Product Specifications, GMO Statements, Allergen Statements, etc).
Will supervise five subordinate employees. Requires travel to San Bernardino, CA.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master of Science degree in Food Science/Food Microbiology or related, plus 5 years experience as Food Scientist or Food Safety and Quality Specialist. Foreign degree acceptable.
